at Herd on the Hill Sanctuary

Eco friendly animal sanctuary, in the heart of West Wales

Our residents

All the non human animals we take in are allowed to rehabilitate at their own pace.
They all become very much part of the family, and soon thrive on the species appropriate expert care, and endless love we offer.

Biscuit

Of the 19 rescued horses and ponies, Biscuit may be the smallest but he is mighty in strength and mischievous in spirit!
He ws saved from being put to sleep due to Cushing's disease and laminitis.
After months of rehabilitation work, he now lives a normal, active, happy life bossing his herd of rescued minis around.

Ahla

Our oldest resident at 29, Ahla came to us after losing her life partner of 15 years and faced life alone.
Her lovely human put the word out and we stepped in. Ahla lives in happy retirement with our other golden oldie Ben who is also 29.
It really was love at first sight and the pair of them enjoy multiple extra mash feeds a day and ad lib hay.

Dilys

Dylis was one of 9 chickens we took in, after 30 of them were dumped in a local forest, the others were homed.
From the start, Dylis bonded the most with Maria. Her favorite thing to do is jump up on her head for a snooze!
All the girls regularly hang out in the kitchen and love interacting with people.
